Concerns traveling with newborn on a plane

Hello I am looking for advice in regard to traveling with a newborn on a plane…not specifically about the current virus issues, general issues with a newborn being on a plane and their immune system being vulnerable…would driving be better than flying despite a very long cross country drive?  Should I be very concerned about this or not worry so much?  Any thoughts would be appreciated.  Thank you again to all who take the time to respond.

We traveled by plane with our newborn. We did drive a bit to cut out layovers. We needed a letter saying she was cleared to fly for the airline. We put her in a sling carrier and stayed away from everyone and everything. It was fine. Obviously crazy now with current virus situation.

Thank you hurryupnwait for your response.  May I ask which sling you like best?  Thanks again.

Check with your agency as I have heard many are enacting “No Fly” rules for their new adoptive parents.

Hello, in the 2 months since this thread began, has anyone had any experience with flying for an infant adoption? We are signed up with a national agency and are debating whether to limit our search to only states within a 2 days drive. Thank you!

I haven’t had that experience, so sorry if off topic, but two months ago COVID-19 was not yet a pandemic inside the US and all the advisories about airline travel were about to foreign countries—and even then there were warnings about plane travel with infants.
Now might be the best time to make any decisions that would involve immediate/short notice air travel, for many reasons. Exposing yourselves and an infant to coronavirus is only one of them.
You may want to limit your search as you are thinking at least until the situation is more clear.
