How do you celebrate your child’s birth culture? Does your child take language classes or attend a culture camp? Or do you encourage more subtle, everyday connections? Share your thoughts and tips.

We belong to our FCC Chapter and attend events, which have lead to play dates and birthday parties. The chapter has made a huge effort to create educational events too - film screenings, lecture, discussion groups etc. Our older dd, now 5 has been attending an FCC sponsored langauge and culture class since whe was 2, but it folded this year, so we are looking around. Our younger dd is only now gained the articulation (she was adopted cleft lip and palate) to attend also.Since we live just outside NYC there are terrific resourcs there in the Chinese community and we go in for big events like the Lunar New Year Parade, plus shopping and dining. Plus our community has a fairly good Asian population, and we’ve been able to make family friends. DD#1 is heart broken because her best friend is moving to China for a couple of years because her mother just got a great job in Shanghai.
