mother's day card for birthmother?

Hi there
I was wondering what other families have done or will do for their birthmothers for Mother’s Day? This will be our 1st Mother’s Day (our son was born May 23 last year) and we’re not sure if we should send his birthmother a card, flowers, or nothing? It feels weird not to do something but we don’t want her to feel awkward, sad, etc. We have an “open” adoption that is still taking shape. We live far away so our main communication is email or letters. She is young but is always asking about him in a loving way. If anyone has had a similar experience or has any ideas, please let me know.
Thanks so much.

Every year we do something a little different.  One thing you can do is send “Birthmother’s Day” cards at xhttp://www.heartmarkdesigns.com/bmoms_day.htm

Congratulations on becoming parents.

We too have an open adoption for each of our daughters and have celebrated Mother’s Day with each of their birthmothers by sending them flowers and a card acknowledging them as mother’s too and the love each of us shares for our girls.

I would suggest sending flowers and a mother’s day card ... it will be a sad day for her as she is not parenting but your remembering her and the place she has in your sons life will be helpful to her.

I would recommend sending a card.  Our birthmom does parent her eldest child.  We also send a card to our little girls bio grand mom.

For the first year, last year, we sent her a card and flowers.  She was thrilled!!  We are in an open adoption..
