U.S. Foster Adoption Waiting

big step forward

We found out today that services were terminated for the bio parents of the little girl that has been with us for over a year. On one hand, I am so excited. We didn’t go into fostering planning to adopt, but this case was heading that way and we went back and got adoptions certified because we couldn’t imagine loosing her. We are so excited to finally get over this hurdle after so many ups and downs.  On the other hand, I feel so bad for her bio parents knowing they just can’t get it together.  We are willing to have an open adoption, so maybe some day they will be able to stay clean. So, a little bit more of the waiting game, but on the right track!

Your little girl will be lucky to have parents like you who honor and value her birth parents.  Life will be easier for her because of these crucial relationships with ALL her parents!  Good luck in this journey to you all.

This is a great blog about an open adoption out of foster to adopt… it is written by an adoptee and adoptive mother.  Very good read.  She is a great lady.

I remember those mixed emotions so vividly. Such relief and excitement to know that this may be permanent, but crying profusely for the loss that her biological parents must feel. It’s such a mix of true joy and heartache.
Congratulations to you and your family, what a blessing!
