What to bring when traveling to adopt?

We live in NY and are adopting from Texas.  The birthmother thinks she might go into labor sooner than expected.  What are the essentials that I need to bring?  Big things like car seat and pack and play I will buy down there because we are driving home.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated!  : )

Yeh, me, too!!!  We’re planning to travel in late July for our baby out of state), and I would love to see your list.  Thanks in advance!

It’s hard to know. If the hospital don’t give you a diaper bag with samples in it, ask for one. They have free ones with formula and diapers. Just pack like a normal trip with a few hospital outfits. You can buy anything from Walmart or Target, etc that you may want/need. I liked the port a cradle that was light weight and folds up like a lawn chair, easy to take anywhere you are sleeping. They are about $40-50 at Walmart. A few soft blankies or swadlers. Congrats!!!

Robin’s (rredhead) list was an immense help to us—super inclusive, without going overboard! One thing we really LOVED having was a microwave steam sterilizer. We still bring it when we travel.
Congrats!
