U.S. Foster Adoption Waiting
UPDATE!!!!! Waiting on their decision...
************* We received the news this morning that we have been chosen to parent those kiddos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am beyond excited! I don’t even know what to do with myself!!!!! Got a lot of stuff to plan and do. Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*********
SO are still waiting to hear what was decided in the Best Interest Staffing. It was last Thursday the 12th but it seems like an eternity!!!! Our worker said they gave her the impression they would have their decision that day but then it goes to SRS (DCF, CPS, different names in different states) to give the final approval.
Well we haven’t heard anything until today! They asked for a budget sheet withOUT my income. See, if we get these kiddos I plan to be a SAHM, at this time I am still employed. I’m so excited to get any news/questions, but I’m wondering, do you think this means they have chosen us and are just making sure we can financially support the kiddos? I am confident that with DH’s income alone and my SSI (I’m disabled so if I don’t work I get SSI) we will be fine. I mean, I’m not going to celebrate just yet, but I hope this means we were chosen!!!!!
Input? Advice? Experience????

How exciting! The budget sheet might be a bit of a hoop for you to jump through for them, but I know we had to fill one out too, in the process of adopting. Do you know if your kids will be receiving a subsidy? That will help you out financially too, but it sounds like you have things already financially in order.
I don’t have any experience…yet (but still hoping)! I say be glad they’re asking you for more information. Sometimes I think this whole process is a lot like applying for a job. So, think of it as being asked back for a 2nd interview. It’s still not a “sure thing”...because who knows how many other applicants there are. But it is a great sign that you’re still being considered. I’ll be hoping with you that you & your DH get “hired.”
Thanks!
I did ask if they would receive a subsidy a while back but never got a clear answer. Anything helps! Especially when you go from a family of 3 to 6!
In the very beginning (many moons ago) we filled out a budget sheet. But in this particular case with the 3 kiddos, I decided that if we did get them, I would stay home. So, they wanted to know what our budget would look like without my job.
There was one other family for the staffing and like I said, we think they made their decision on the 12th. It’s now in SRS’s hands, they are the ones who requested our budget, not the people in the staffing. I know I know, confusing!
I hope we get the job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope your dream comes true. It’s exciting and awesome!
Congrats, like you know, different in different states. In Indiana they asked us in the beginning and right before we finalized our adoption what our finances looked like.
Congrats
I’m so excited for you. When you first mentioned them I got goose bumps! Your life is about to change.
Full steam ahead—on a wonderful adventure! Congratulations.
Congrats!
Congrats SunnieMom! Look in your states adoption handbook (available by a search online) to see what the guidelines for a subsidized adoption are. For my state they need to be over 5 yrs, have mental/physical issues OR be a part of a sibling group they don’t want to separate. I am adopting 8 yr old twins and they get a subsidy. I’ve heard before that you need to fight for that subsidy in some states so it’s worth looking into. Kids can be expensive and every little bit counts toward giving them the best. It might just mean you could take them on vacation or something. Anyway, Congrats again and enjoy them!!
Congratulations!!! So exciting for you and your family! Tell us more details!
