U.S. Foster Adoption Waiting
Trying to find the right agency!
I have been doing everything in my power other than banging my head against a wall trying to find an agency willing to work with us to be flexible with training around my husbands job (military). We are in North Carolina and really want to adopt a child from foster care of any state, preferrably older. Our road block has been finding the required MAPP training from somewhere where they are willing to work with us around my husbands schedule where he does alot of military training and his command will not excuse him from it. He cannot miss one class and they do not offer make-up classes. I’ve contacted Childrens Home Society and all surrounding counties, problem is they oddly all have the same training the exact same dates at the exact same time. Has anyone had a similar issue? Or know of any agencies that possibly work in NC that are willing to work with the families? I really want to adopt from the U.S. foster system but am feeling incredibly hopeless that systems here are going to hinder the process.

In some states, you can do straight adoption with a home study/background check. You only have to do the classes to foster. Check that out.
Have you been here?
Maybe they can help

There seems to be an online version.

I would research this and offer to pay the fee and ask if he can do that.
If worker says no I would ask to speak to the supervisor and or director.
