Our Journey to Family

Thought I'd say hi, share my story

Hello, my name is Carrie.  My Hubby and I have just started our road to adoption after running into fertility issues.  So far we’re trying to decide on adoption professionals. From what I’ve learned here in California where we live the choices are foster-adopt, agency, or adoption attorneys.  Licensed facilitators are legal but only in helping find a match. So far we’ve gone to one seminar with an agency in our area (Los Angeles) and spoken to the Adoption Network Law Center.

I’ll be the first to admit it’s pretty overwhelming.  I have family who have adopted, but in other states, and don’t know any friends here who’ve done it.  Still just trying to take one baby step at a time.

Hi Carrie!

I live in Northern California, in the SF Bay Area. I’ve adopted using facilitators twice. I *really* don’t recommend them. In so many ways, I wish we had used an agency.

Nightlight Christian Adoption has an office in L.A. Open Adoption & Family Services is located in the Pacific Northwest, but they have a stellar reputation.

Good luck on your adoption journey!
