Single Parents
Stress and the single parent
What are ways you have found to balance the stress of work, parenting and life in general, as a single parent. Who is your support system. If you don’t have a lot of support, what do you do. Have you found a babysitter?
I personally do not have a lot of support from my family in getting a break, I do have friends who will watch my girls once in a while to allow me some personal time.

Have you looked into http://www.parentswithoutpartners.com
they have chapters practically everywhere…Also, do you belong to a church? Sometimes your religious facility has access to high school and college kids that babysit…
I recently moved to a town where I knew no one! I found a wonderful single mother who teaches at the same school I do. We have become great friends and we help each other out with the kids. She even takes my son to baseall practice when I am out of town with my daughter for gymnastics. She has middle school kids and they will babysit as well.
I think the church and high school kids are also a great suggestions. We have an Awanas group (I am not a member of this church but all the kids in town attend) and that is every Wednesday from 6:30 -8:00. That is a wonderful break.
You really need to look for programs your kids can get involved in and take advantage of the time it gives you.
Good luck - Jenni
I think the parents without partners address should be .org not .com I just clicked the link and it didn’t look “right” so I did search and fount it at parentswithoutpartners.org
Related to the support… My mom and dad have been absolutely amazing supports. I would be really stressed out and very very sleep deprived if I didn’t have them. It really does take a villiage and I am thrilled to have them actively involved in my daughters life.
We were always a close family but my daughters arrival has brought is even closer. So far it really has been just great!
