Special Needs Specific Grants?

Hello everyone! I am new to this group.  We recently matched with a mother whose son will be born with bilateral clubfoot. My husband and I are adopting through a private agency, we are not considered “financially needy”  and we’re not religious, so we did not meet the criteria for most grants.  However, I was wondering if anyone knew of any grants specifically for Special Needs Adoptions?

I know there’s Brittany’s Hope…any others?  Thank you in advance!

Do remember that, in addition to the federal tax credit, some states give tax credits, particularly to families who adopt children with special needs.  Check with your tax professional or your state’s tax office.

On Facebook there is a group called special angels adoptions,  it’s not an agency but they help find families for special needs kids, both private adoptions and through foster care. They would likely know of any available resources.

You might try Resources 4 adoption. They list many grants. There are some grants for special needs kids. Also some low interest loans. However in general most grants are for families that are seriously financially needy as well and would not be able to complete the adoption without the aid.

Definitely look into the tax credit. Sometimes the adoption agencies themselves offer grants for special needs kids or older kids so check that route as well.

The child should be on your medical right away so the medical bills should be covered. What kind of grant are you thinking you need?
