How exciting that we have a Kentucky Adoption Group! So what parts of KY does everyone live in? I live in Lexington, I am a yankee transplant from Northern Ohio. My husband and I adopted our son domestically and he is 15 months old. We had a really long hard path to him, but he is completely worth it. We are currently gearing up for number two…perhaps we will start the process this winter.
Please introduce yourselves…it would be great to meet/talk to other adoptive parents from KY!
Hello,
We live in Cox’s Creek, KY (next to Bardstown). We have a 4 yr old daughter from China. She has been with us for 2 1/2 years. She is the love of our lives!!! We would love to adopt again and are considering a domestic adoption since adoptions in China have a very long wait time (over 4 years after log in date). Best of luck with #2!
Andrea
Hi!
I’m excited to join this group!
I live in Shelbyville. My husband and I are adopting a little girl from India. We just completed the homestudy, so are now working on papers for Immigration. Of course we never know, but are hoping to pick up our daughter next Spring.

Hello all,
We live in Scotsville KY. It is just south of Bowling Green. Our daughter, who is now 3 1/2 years old, was born in China. We went to China to bring her home in 2007. We are now going through the process of adoption from Korea. Homestudy done. Last bit of medical info and paperwork for AIAA now. We agree with Andea about the wait time through China.

I’m excited to see this group. I’m an adoptive mother of 2 - one through step parent adoption and the other is through foster care. The foster care child is my daughter’s half brother though.
We are in Florence.
Nice to meet you all.
Hello, my husband and I brought home our son and daughter (now 17m old) from Ethiopia 1 year ago. We live in Louisville, KY and would love to meet other families in the area.
Kristina and Phillip
Our family lives in Western Kentucky about 35 miles from the IL border and about 45 miles from the TN border in the KY Lake area. We adopted a sibling group, sister and brother six years ago after having them in our home for three years through foster care. We have a nine year old son we completed adoption on last December after having him in our home for three years through foster care.
I work for the state in adoption now so our foster home has been closed. I am Shirley and my husband’s name is Richard. We have several support groups all over Kentucky through the ASK program. ASK means Adoption Support for Kentucky. Any adoptive parents can come, most have child care available and the discussions are great!
Hi, so glad to join this group! My husband and I have a 3 year old daughter who was adopted from Guatemala. We brought her home at 8 months old and the time has flown by! We just submitted our Dossier to adopt from Ethiopia. We are very excited and nervous to be going through international adoption again. I would LOVE to get togeher with other famiiles,
Hello, everyone!
We live in southern Kentucky between Lake Cumberland and Dale Hollow Lake in the small town of Albany. We are currently approved to foster but have yet to adopt. We were to adopt a Safe Haven infant but the birth mother came forward. We know there is a reason God allowed us to have this experience. We visit occasionally with the child and her family and hope someday to see them come to know God.
We are patiently waiting another placement and are currently considering additional options to grow our family.

Hi there. How great to have a group for Kentucky. We live in Louisville and have a 4 year old son we adopted domestically. We are expecting a daughter, also through domestic adoption, in about a month.
We would also enjoy knowing other local families.

Hello from Lexington!
My wife and I adopted our son Manu from Bangalore India in January of 2009. He’s two and a half now and doing great and we are adjusting to being first-time parents, lol. We hope to begin the process of adopting a little girl from India in the next year or so.
I look forward to getting to know you all!
Jeff
Hello from Williamstown in Grant Co.!
My husband and I have been foster parents for 8 years and never had the desire to adopt. We have had 40 children come through our home and God has changed our hearts. We have 2 grown biological children and found out that we are also going to be grandparents. We have started the adoption process of 3 hispanic/caucasion siblings that we have had for 2 years. We are thrilled.
It was nice to read about you all.
Hello! We’re from South central KY and have a brilliant almost 2 year old little girl that we are hoping to adopt. She came to us through a birthmother in a different state and our adoption is at a standstill because it is being contested.
It’s so nice to find other Kentuckians here!
Hello from Morehead! We live about 60 miles east of Lexington. My husband and I are just now getting started with domestic adoption. Our classes begin next month. We are very excited!
Hey there! My husband and I are in Owensboro. We began the adoption process in April and went active with a national agency in August. Unfortunately that agency, due to some KY legislation, can only show our profile to birth mothers in a select few states. We are hoping we can open our borders a bit and are considering working with an additional agency. We are both teachers and really want a little one in our home by the summer.
Have you considered adopting an older child? If so, the Special Needs Adoption Program can help you with that.
Hi, my name is Carrie. My husband and I adopted a baby girl from Yugan, China, in April of 2008. She has brought so much joy to our home! She has two sisters and two brothers that have all played a wonderful part in spoiling her. Lilianna will be four in June. She is growing up much too quickly for this momma! Looking forward to being in the Kentucky group. We are located outside of Elizabethtown.
Hello - from Lexington, KY
I just joined the group! We’re adopting from India and have one bio son. We just received our referral and we’re at the medical records review stage. After that, our Dossier goes off to India. We’re hoping to travel yet this year or early 2012. Anyone else close by adopting from India?
Hi Renae,
We also adopted from India, and we live in Lexington!
Where in India is your child? If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
Jeff-
So sorry, it’s taken so long to reply, not used to getting on this site. Our daughter is from Mumbai, and is at Bal Asha Trust Orphanage. We recently mailed in the I800, I864, and DS 230 - so now we are just at the waiting stage for approval thru courts and then travel. They say it will be 8 months, we’re hoping sooner. Do you have a play group or go to an adoption group here in Lexington? We’ve been attending Southland Christian Church adoption group, and that has been great. We would love to meet sometime and talk about transitions and your experiences when you first got home, etc. Are you adopting again from India, or am I thinking of someone else I saw online? Do you guys have an adoption blog? Ours is bringinghomelauren.blogspot.com
Take care-
Renae.
Since everyone posted so long ago, I’m not sure if this thread is still going, but we live in Louisville and we are adopting a boy (1-2) from the Congo! We are currently doing the paper chase!
We are in Salvisa! So happy to have so many other “locals” in this crazy process! We are in between the homestudy and dossier phase of adopting a sibling group from Costa Rica!
