Single Parent Adoption Agencies

Hi Everyone,
I am a single woman who is just starting the process and I’m feeling a little overwhelmed!  Does anyone have experience/recommendations for agencies that are supportive of single parent adoptions?  I’m in the Dallas metro area.

Thank you!
Lisa

Hi Lisa,

I know that Holt International is very supportive of single parents. They actually made a video of a single mother going through the adoption process and it is awesome!

Here is a link if you are interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ec3gEgYto1w

I hope that helps!

Hi Lisa. I’m a single adoptive mama and domestic adoption consultant. Have you heard of consultants before? I used one when I went through the process and then became so passionate that people shouldn’t go through the adoption process alone, that I too became a consultant. I invite you to check out my website and if you are interested in hopping on a call, sign up for my free consultation and I promise you’ll come away with A LOT more clarity. There are strategies that may work better for you, as a single woman.  http://www.rgadoptionconsulting.com. The FAQ page may help, too. Hope this helps.

what kind of adoption are you interested in?

Sorry Regina.  I thought i had replied to this already.  I’m interested in a domestic adoption newborn - toddler age.  I’m interested in closed or semi-open.

Oh maybe you did I am no computer whiz. Have you looked into foster care? They sometimes need home for younger children or a small sib group. They may be in custody already or you may have to do a placement without assurance the child(ren) are staying.

International is never newborn but can be toddler. Have you read Toddler Adoption by Hopkins-Best? Good grounding for parents considering toddler adoption. Best of luck.

Most legitimate agencies are about finding the right parents for a child, not finding a child for a person who wants one.
It’s not if an agency is “friendly” to you so will give you a child, but if your situation would be the right fit for the kind of adoption you want and for the child and the natural family who would be comfortable with you as an adoptive parent.
