Good for him. Amazing that unethical agencies are allowed to conduct business as usual, and where else would a father’s right to his children even be seen as an “issue,” much less one that is simply denied. I hope every natural father who has been mistreated by an unethical agencies sues and wins a huge settlement. Apparently the pocketbook is the only thing these agencies understand.
I couldn’t agree more, Patsymae! This letter is not just a heads-up to those who work with adoption agencies and to attorneys in Utah, but to those involved in adoption in EVERY state. Its also quite important for prospective parents to read that letter carefully. As horrific as it is, it is essential that prospective parents be in-the-know that barely-legal, UNethical practices abound, and that unfortunately, it is quite easy to dupe prospective parents into believing that the “super-nice” folks with whom they’ve become involved in hopes of becoming parents, could be engaged in such despicable things. Sometimes, the social workers/case workers/contract workers with whom they meet for the purpose of completing a homestudy, are oblivious to the bad practices their agency employs to obtain babies and keep the flow of $$ coming—hurting children and parents (both birth parents, and eventually the adoptive parents too—when the facts come to light) in the process. This should inspire anyone seeking to adopt to be very careful about investigating, and not assume that all is well just because the staff with whom they have face-to-face contact are “nice.”
Way to go! It takes courage to stand up for what is right, and ethical. Thanks for posting this. The new organization sounds promising.
Terrific! I just wish UCEAP wasn’t for Utah only…is there a national organization for ethical adoption practices? I’d love to join…
