Please help plan a heritage trip to Japan

I have always told my boys who were adopted from japan that I would take them there on a heritage trip when they turn 13. My older son will be 13 in 2018 so I’m planning our trip.
Because Japan is so rare to adopt from, I haven’t found any heritage trip plans. Has anyone done a heritage trip?
I lived in Japan and speak the language so, I don’t mind going just the 2 of us. But I’m so unsure of what to do there. My son has mild autism, ADHD, cerebral palsy and is unsure of what he wants to do.
I would appreciate any advice!

If he is unsure I would wait. Just because you promised doesn’t mean he wants it. Maybe he would like to go with his brother? Does he need assistance walking with CP? Is he (or you) worried about disability challenges? Does he want to search for birth family? See hospital of birth? Visit foster family? Ignore adoptio? What does he want to do?

Maybe he needs some work with you on why he wants to go or why he doesn’t. Not all children are interested in heritage tours. Maybe he wants to go when he is older.
