New here. Doing a private adoption.
Hi!! I am new to this forum. We are doing a private adoption, our baby boy is due in September. Just wondering if anyone has done a private adoption and could help me get my list of everything that needs done before our baby is born. Thanks

We have not completed one, but we are hoping to do a private adoption this time around. If it happens for us, I know I will need to have a
hospital plan in place that the expectant mother has agreed to.
Have offered counseling to the expectant parents,
make sure the lawyer has put together the appropriate relinquishment documents and looked into the paternity rights and also tried to make contact with expectant father and post on paternity registries if he can not be found or
if he is known that he agrees to the adoption plan and will sign the paperwork.
Also come to a level of contact agreement with expectant parents in detail (letters, calls, photos, visits/ How often)
I am sure there is more, but I hope that helps
We did a private adoption last year. Your attorney should handle all of the legal paperwork and be advising you on what you can/can’t pay for based on the laws of the state you will be finalizing in. I would recomment an attorney from the Academy of Adoption Atorneys if you don’t already have one.
Good Luck

Congratulations to you!!! If you want to private message me at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) I will send you some forms, lists that can help you get prepared. *SMILE It is such an exciting time~ but the wait can seem long, so I also have a list of things you can do to keep yourself ‘sane’ during the wait! LOL
Blessings to you,
