Need assurances, prayers, and positive thoughts
Friends,
Our daughter is almost 9 months old now. We were supposed to finalize at the end of March but the judge in our case has taken issue with something (I’d rather not disclose for privacy/legal reasons) and still has not issued our finalization decree. We are beside ourselves with worry, and racking up legal bills to say the least as we try to make our family once and forever ours.
We encountered disruptions in our journey here. We encountered heartache. We encountered a lot of anxiety and joy of course as we navigated the early days of having our girl with us. I cannot fathom losing her, but now I cannot get it out of my head that we might.
Did anyone here encounter finalization dramas? Any advice or insights?
Thanks. Ellen

Oh my gosh! I am so hopeful for you and your family, especially your daughter. Have they given you a timeframe in which they will let you know the final outcome? I hope you’ll keep us posted. I haven’t experienced what you are, but I can imagine the suffering you are going through.
Wishing you peace and comfort during this time.
no drama at finalization but definitely at TPR. i hope everything works out. what does your lawyer have to say?
my prayers and thoughts are with you and your family. wishing you the best of luck
Praying for peace…. I know finalizing will bring that!
May the Lord bless and keep you!
Praying for the best outcome for everyone.
We had drama at finalization, with questions about the unknown birth father, the amount of money we paid ($16k), and the fact that our lawyer was working pro bono (does that for everyone through our agency). but thankfully our lawyer could prove that we were completely following the law so the judge ended up approving it anyway. Made for a sad and disappointing day when it should have been a happy day though. Praying you get answers quickly and everything is fine.
We just had drama with our post placement social worker and agency but none at finalization. I feel terrible for you and the stress and worry you’re going through. You all will be in my thoughts and prayers and I hope you are posting a positive update very soon.
I am so sorry to hear your troubles! Our home study and the finalization were honestly the only good parts of our adoption. Well of course our son but u get the point. I will pray for you!!!
Ellen,
Hugs, I don’t have any advice, but I will pray for you. I can’t imagine what you are going through.
We had a hard time with the placement, and afterwards we had some issues with the birthmother. I recently reached out to her and things are better. I took me time and prayer to get there.
Best of luck.
Sharon
Sending prayers your way!
I will be praying.
I sympathize with what you are going through, but since you don’t want to say what the issue is that the judge has, hard to give advice. I hope it works out for the best for all who are involved, especially the child.
Sending you prayers!!!!!! God Bless you and your family.
Thinking of you, hoping you have better news soon.
