We adopted our daughter from PLAN adoption agency in McMinnville in 1986. She was from Guatemala, from the orphanage in Guatemala City. She was 8 years old at the time. We found out a year later that her 1/2 sister was going to be adopted by another family in Oregon. Our daughter is now trying to find her sister. If anyone has any information regarding this, we would love some help.

Well, this may not be much help…but I thought I’d try. I am assuming you have asked your agency? Also you might ask them if they know the name of the orphanage and see if you could contact them directly. I hope you get a response here, but if you don’t you might try rainbowkids.com and contact all organizations that did adoptions in Guatemala. If an organization sounds promising but can not give out info, ask them if they would forward a letter from your daughter to the people involved so they could then reply on their own initiative if they choose to do so. There are also agencies that search for family members…I wonder if one of those would be able to help? But if you go with one of them be sure to verify the info. I know someone who was connected with her supposed birth mother. Genetic testing showed it was not the right family. (She did eventually find them though!) Hopefully your daughter will as well.

That is sooo wonderful that you are helping her search! I hope she finds her. I think she could register with the ISSR and have some luck there.
