KanCare Question

Does anyone have experience using your primary insurance and KanCare as the secondary? That is what KS is asking us to do, but I am not sure why we would.

I am not sure what Kancare is. Is it Medicaid? What happens if you move out of Kansas?

It may cover the child better. For example some therapists may take your insurance but not Kancare.

A hospital stay may be better covered by Kancare.

If you loose your job you would still be covered by Kancare.

It is so confusing I have no real advice. You can go to and click on subsidy they may have information.

Have you asked for a meeting to explain how this works? Called your state insurance office? Maybe they can help

We have to do it that way as well. They have to claim it to private insurance first, they cover a portion, it is then that they submit it to kancare, which they usually cover the rest. FYI- they know require the deductable to be met by primary to be paid.
