Just One Crib Sheet or Adoption Isn't For Sissies
Yesterday I bought a crib sheet. And I wrote a little post about it over on my blog, Real Life with Kids.
It felt good to acknowledge that hope and practicality have to live side by side during the waiting - but that for me it is okay to let hope have free reign once in awhile.
The title is “Just One Crib Sheet or Adoption Isn’t For Sissies” http://www.reallifewithkids.com/?p=2567
I haven’t written since October of last year - this felt good.

Love, love love your post! It sounds familiar… if you want, check out my blog, http://www.buildingafamily.net
We got an email that said our profile was being shown and I went out and bought a car seat.
As hard as the days can get, those hope-filled days are the ones that get us through.
Good luck in your adoption

I used to buy a few things here and there to make myself feel better when I thought that I would never be matched. It made me smile to think that one day my child would one day wear that outfit. It will happen one day!
My bedding set for the crib I bought over 2 years ago, but now we have a crib to put it on!! It helped me to get things once in a while, and yes, your baby will be home one day:)

Good for you! I had a slew of things bought and hidden away when we brought our daughter home. It was with fondness that each item got pulled out and I tearfully recalled where we were in our journey when I bought them.
May your baby be in your arms soon!
have to laugh, because I too started out with “just one crib sheet”.... which somehow multiplied and grew into a fully outfited bedroom and playroom, with no child in sight yet. best of luck on your adoption!
I do the same thing. I’ve been collecting stuff that’s gender-neutral, since we don’t know whether it’ll be a boy or a girl. But my one “impractical purchase” was a turquoise tutu and headband I bought when we got matched in May with a possible baby girl. I knew it might fall through (and it ultimately did), but I couldn’t help it. I saw it hanging on the rack and HAD to get it. Sometimes we need those hopeful purchases to remind us that our baby will come someday!
Thanks, All!!
Thank you for the support and for understanding how I feel!
Next up? The quilt! LOL
thanks that made me feel good , i have been doing that just picking up little at a time and i love it , hopinfg for our son.
I really enjoyed your blog. It made me feel better. We are matched but the BM isn’t due for another 7 weeks, 7 weeks to change her mind plue 10 days after the birth the change her mind. I recently bought onsies and wanted to return them the next day. Your blog made me want to keep them with the hope she won’t change her mind.
great blog post! And I LOVE Land of Nod too!!!
After a year and a half of waiting to adopt, I haven’t bought my first crib sheet yet ... maybe I will this weekend.
