Adoptive Families With One Child

I am looking for a 'sister' for my adopted only child!

I am so concerned about my child who is adopted and an only child. She actually has 8 biological siblings none of whom want to be bothered with any one of them. I reached out to two of the sisters, spent gobs of money on them over a 2 year period, and then they decided that connecting to a biological sibling meant absolutely nothing to them. My daughter is devastated and I am too.

Now I am reaching out to learn if there are others who want to create ‘sisters’ out of adopted only children. I live in Chicago and am willing to do most anything.

I am in my 50s and cannot adopt a second child. My daughter is 10 years old.

Are you saying you can not adopt because of your age?  You could adopt an older child in your 50’s. If you still feel not - what about join adopted children’s support groups and see if you can find a child who becomes a best friend - like sister for your child? Or if not that some other community minded organization like girl scouts or a church youth group? Or do you have any distant cousins with children that you could spend more time with?Or volunteer with activities at a host program for older children who will eventually be adopted in the area - that way she can help another child and build a close friendship too.

Thank you for responding to my post. I have not been able to log in for two years and I am still trying to adopt a second child. It seems impossible. I am married and my husband is not supportive. He also lives in Hawaii and we live in the midwest. He does not deal with the issues of isolation that my daughter faces.  What can I do? I am 57 years old now.
