Home Study tomorrow
Finally, we are going to get our home study done tomorrow. It’s been a long hard road but I’m starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel
. I have been trying to adopt my 9 yr old twin cousins since they were 7 yrs old and the State called me to offer. I’m praying all goes well tomorrow and we can get them out here before school starts. Doing an out of State adoption sure has a lot of loop holes to get through. Sometimes I feel we are on the back burner because the kids are from another state. I sure hope I’m wrong on that because in my eyes, all kids should be priority.

So glad it’s finally coming together! Hope they can process the home study soon and the two will be with you soon. Are they girls or boys?
Woohoo so glad your finally getting it done we had our little man at home 3 weeks after our homestudy!!!!
I did an out of state adoption too but didn’t find that to be an issue,(nine months from home study to placement, just like a pregnancy, lol). I suppose like anything it depends on the people involved. I hope it goes very smoothly from here on out!
edit, for me there was no identified child yet, so for you that part is not an issue, I will send up a prayer that they are placed well before Fall, would be great to have the summer together!
Sometimes the courts really slow things down. I know that with our boy he was in care in our home for 5 months before he officially came into foster care legally. All sorts of things can mess with the time line. That said I hope you have smooth sailing from here on!
Good luck and I am glad things are starting to pan out!
How did it go Pam?
Hi everyone and thanks for all the great comments! The twins are a boy and a girl, by the way and I was told that I now have to wait about 60 days for the approval. In North Carolina, the state I’m in, they take the home study to the comity on the 3rd Tues of the month, then they submit it and approval takes 50 days. It’s so frustrating because NC told Oregon they would rush it but are now telling me they won’t. Looks like we will only have about a week or so to bond before school starts, after they get here. I just hope the school processes them fast so they don’t also have to start school late :(.
Anyway the home study took all of 20 mins but now it’s done, yay!!
