Hi all :)
Hello everyone!
I havent posted much here because I have been a busy new mom!
I thought I would finally share as so many of you were rooting for us and keeping an eye on my updates lol.
When we got to Maryland to receive our little one we were able to be blessed by meeting the family. We didnt know what to expect but we actually went to the familys home, sat and chatted, had a birthday cake for our little one, learned some family history, and was able to do a few videos and pictures to put away for later. It was a great moment and one that we were not expecting to be able to enjoy. After that day, we had to jump through many more hoops to get the 2 states to cooperate so we could go home. My husband actually had to go back home after being there for 1 weeks. A couple days later the states finally agreed to let us leave. We drove 6 hours just me and the little bean to my parents in NC to help get us the rest of the way home. At that time I was running 102 fever lol YEAH! Lets just say I was totally feeling sorry for myself.
Once I got home (Florida) I had our little princess to the pediatrician to make sure she was doing ok and of course, THANK GOODNESS, I was the only sicky. The following day I was admitted to the hospital for Pneumonia. Once everything settled down- all the stress was gone- I can tell you whole heartedly- I would do Everything ALL OVER AGAIN a million times just so we could hear that silly giggle and Da Da Da Da over and over again. Sweet music to our ears. We are so blessed!
So now… on to the finalization date-Wait

Glad to hear that despite the many hurdles and unfortunate illness that you are on the healing path together!
That is so good that you were able to meet with her family, that sounded really positive. I hope that her first mom is doing okay as well.
I thought of you a month or so ago when we were approached by a friend with the possibility of a 3 year old adoption within her extended family. We too had been planning for an infant, but as SOON as we heard the details of this situation we were 100% on board and suddenly this felt like the best possible path for us. That reminded me of your sharing of your journey, which was nice to have your story to reflect on.
It doesn’t look like it is going to proceed, which is sad for us, but the experience made me realize the potential for that sudden, wonderful, “we are 100% in, have no doubts, and are on our way” feeling. It was like having a taste of what you all say - that as soon as you have your child the struggle and heartbreak dissolves behind you.
The other thing that felt good in this is the fact that it sounds like the family can come together and parent after all. I was really struck this time about how truly adoption, while very exciting for US as adoptive parents, is so rooted in loss and tragedy for others. And the fact that this was an older child with fully formed relationships and home life somehow made it hit me even more, the losses that are involved.
Look forward to hearing more of your journey as it evolves. Best wishes.
It’s amazing how a baby makes everything seem better. I’m glad you’re feeling well and that your little girl is home.
Congratulations!
