Parents With Disabilities

Hello Everyone!

My name is Carling Barry and I am a student in Canada currently working on my thesis on Adoption and Disability. I am just wondering if anyone would be interested in talking about the adoption process. If they are going through the adoption process now or already have. I am looking to write about how disability is seen/situated in the adoption process/child welfare system.

Thanks!

Hello,  My husband and I are in the process of foster to adopting and we will be getting out first placement in the next 2 weeks.  I have a condition called Arthrogryposis and it was almost impossible to find an agency or county to be willing to work with us.  I would be happy to answer questions in a message for you.

I have Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). We went through a private domestic adoption (that is, not through foster care). My disability wasn’t an issue, for the most part. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

I’m legally blind & my husband does not have a disability. I don’t hide my disability & I choose to talk about it in a positive way but we are still waiting/
