Guatemala adoption

Is Guatemala doing any adoptions to the U.S.? What if my husband is a Guatemalan citizen, would we be able to? Who do I contact to find out?

No, adoptions from Guatemala to the US are no longer happening. As a Guatemalan citizen, your husband could adopt there, probably. But you couldn’t bring the child to the US, as far as I know.
Are Intercountry Adoptions between this country and the United States possible? No

Agree with above.  No adoptions from Guatemala, including adoptions by relatives, can occur at this time.  While Guatemala is in the process of becoming compliant with the Hague Convention on intercountry adoption, the U.S. does not yet feel that the system can prevent the corrupt practices that occurred in the past and that led to the shutdown.

If and when adoptions resume, you and your spouse will have to follow the Hague process for international adoptions.  If you use the domestic process that may be available to Guatemalan citizens, the child will NOT qualify for a visa to enter the U.S.
