Gay Adoption in non gay friendly states?
We are currently searching gay friendly states where we are able to jointly adopt as non residents. We fear that we are cutting our options short by doing this, especially while our local agency keeps asking us for a profile to list (since they need more profiles!)
Any advice? A local lawyer explained that the 2nd parent will have NO LEGAL rights and can’t really get any. She said our local court would do some sort of custody agreement through juvenile court that would give rights for visitation if we were to split up, but it has no other legal ramifications. There are so many things, traveling, medical decisions, care, etc., and the second parent will basically be a babysitter with no rights!
