Developmental Issues for your preemie?

Are you hearing concerns from your medical/education team about the “catch up” time frame and developmental delays?  Our education team seems a little worried and I’m not sure if they are being overly cautious or I’m not concerned enough!  What are your thoughts?

My preemie is now 26 years old.  I wish someone had alerted us sooner about her developmental delays.  Although she had a lot of respiratory infections as a child and related asthma (which birth mother told us she’d had as a child) we did not realize….and were not alerted by our pediatrician’s….how much delay she was experiencing until she was evaluated at six years of age.  What kinds of concerns is your educational team expressing?

He was born somewhere between 28 and 31 weeks gest.  Our state has an early intervention program and they test/evaluate him every few months.  He is 21 months old (adjusted age about 19 mos.) Most of their concerns are delays in large motor and language skills.  He was walking and talking at 18 mos old.  I know that is late but should I be alarmed or just informed and watchful.
