Americans Living Abroad With Adopted Children

American living in UAE wanting to adopt.

Hi! My husband and I have a birth daughter who is 19 months old and live in the UAE.
I am trying all I can at this point to get some information on adopting internationally while living abroad.
We have been living in the UAE for the past year and I believe we’ll be staying here for a while. I’ve always wanted to adopt and I know it’s a long process. So, I think it would be most prudent to start the process soon. I have gotten some suggestions on the procedure but still have questions. Is anyone knowledgeable in these circumstances?
Thank you so much.

You’ll get much more useful information there. We were living in Switzerland when we adopted through US domestic adoption, so I don’t have any direct information about Dubai. However, I do recall there are people living in Dubai who are on that list, so they could help quite a lot!

Good luck!

Thank you. I am part of a different group on yahoo, from Dubai. The members are mostly Brits and have different circumstances.  I will join this one also. We are living/working as private citizens.
Thank you for your replies.

We went through an agency called VIDA (Voice for International and Domestic Adoption) and they have been great.  We live in the eastern Caribbean while my husband attends vet school and we are doing a domestic adoption. They have been very good to us.  Just remember that it can be more expensive and that it often takes a little longer as we wait for resources to become available.
