Homicide Survivors Assistance Center

The center supports families and friends who have lost their loved ones to murder and vehicular homicide. These groups are hosted by the Family Service Center in Huntsville and are available throughout the North Alabama area.

Anger Management Classes for Adults and Youth & Sandcastles-Helping Children of Divorce Rebuild Group

These groups are available through the Family Service Center in Huntsville.

Home Educator’s Support Groups

Autism Society of Alabama

All family members are welcome and childcare is provided. The mission of the Autism Society of Alabama is to improve the quality of life of persons with autism spectrum disorders and their families through education, advocacy and support. Contact Helen Faught at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center to find out more about this group. It meets at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center on the fourth Thursday of each month. Alabama Institute of Deaf and Blind

Impaired support group and referrals to other support groups. Meetings are held for developing children and family goals. This center covers Houston, Barbour, Henry, Dale, Coffee, Geneva and Covington counties. Most of their services are free to residents of Alabama who have a diagnosed vision or hearing loss of at least 25 percent and for children with a diagnosed developmental delay. AlAdopt- Homeschool

This is a group for adoptive families in Alabama who also homeschool their children. It is a place where they can get to know each other and share information and ideas. Domestic and international adoptive families are welcome.  Groups cover : Bullock, Butler, Crenshaw, Coffee, Covington, Dale, Geneva, Henry, Houston. Support Group - Caring Hearts

Dothan City Department of Leisure Services - The Department of Leisure Services will host an after school program at East Highland. The program operates Monday-Friday until 5:30 p.m. For more information call 344-793-0191.

Early Head Start Program - The Alfred Saliba Family Services Center, Early Head Start program is accepting applications for all infants and toddlers (birth to 30 months of age) as well as pregnant women and children with disabilities for the 2002-2003 school year. For more information, call Shana Demby at 794-8310, ext. 204, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Head Start - The organized Community Action Program, Inc., Head Start is a nonprofit organization that serves low-income families in a comprehensive child development setting. The organization is now taking applications for the 2002-2003 school year ages 3,4 and five. Applications are available at Head Start Centers. Call 566-1712 or 347-4434 for information.

Coffee County School System - Coffee County School System is in the process of identifying all persons with disabilities ages 3-21 years, who are not enrolled in an educational setting. If you are the parent of a disabled child, please call the Special Education Coordinator’s office at the Coffee County Board of Education at 897-5016.

Alabama Family Rights Association - This group meets at 7-9 p.m. on the first and third Mondays at Houston-Love Memorial Library, 212 West Burdeshaw, Dothan. Call 334-393-0065 or 912-723-9206.
