Agencies in Houston?
My husband and I live in Houston and are just starting the adoption process and are interested in a domestic infant adoption. Does anyone have any information/experience, good or bad, on adoption agencies in Houston?

My husband & I used Caring Adoptions located in west Houston. We are very happy with them. If you would like more information, feel free to send us an email. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
I also highly recommend Caring Adoptions. I had a friend who adopted through AIM and was also pleased with her experience. They were our second choice. Best of luck to you!
Thanks so much!
We went to a Caring Adoptions orientation and everything seemed nice but you never can tell if what you see in an orientation is what turns out to be true through the whole process.
We don’t know anyone who has gone through this process before to ask and there also aren’t a lot of reviews available online for many of the agencies in Houston so we were feeling rather lost…
Again, thanks so much for your quick replies! And thanks Johanna for your email. I’ll send an email - I’d love to hear about your process and experience.
We used Gladney. They are based in Ft. Worth but have offices in Houston. Our home study caseworker was from the Houston office. We LOVED Gladney! Friendly, professional, helpful staff. The thing that we liked most about Gladney was their dedication to the birthmothers. BMs have free counseling for the rest of their lives through Gladney. We were also impressed with the fact that Gladney has been doing this for 125 years. Their estimates on wait time were right on. We would use them again - no doubt!
We used Family to Family in Richmond, near Houston. Feel free to let me know if you want futher details. All I’ll say here is that if you’re the tiniest bit “type A” and expect things to be very precise and organized, they may not work for you. At least that was the case 5+ years ago
Is anyone interested in starting a foster/adopt support group in Houston? Please message me!
We used Adoption Access. Their main office is in Dallas, but they have great counselors in Houston. Our first Son was adopted in 2009 at 10 days old—our wait time was about 2 months. And we were at the hospital the day our second Son was born 5 months ago. The wait time for the match was approx. four months.
They very much advocate semi-open and open adoptions, which worked for us. We were open to a fully open adoption and a transracial adoption which likely shortened the wait time.
We adopted our daughter through Pauquette Adoption Services in WI, but our daughter was placed with us with the help of http://www.aimadoptions.org/ in Houston. I wouldn’t have chosen an explicitly Christian organization on my own, but we were very pleased with the friendly, small staff and the pleasant office (and I’m pretty sure my glasses weren’t just rose-tinted by meeting our daughter for the first time!). =) Hope this helps! Best wishes…
Thank you for all! We decided to work with Caring Adoptions and have just submitted ALL of our application paperwork. We have had a good experience so far and think we made the right choice for us!
Congratulations and best of luck. Also, check out adoptivefamiliesofhouston.org. We’re a networking and educational group for adoptive families. Our next event is on Friday June 15 about Social Media and Adoption. There is info on our sight, but I’m getting ready to post info here to!
