Adoption date SET!!!!

Hi all…just wanted to share the news that we were just given our adoption ceremony date for next month!  We are sooo excited!  I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to how to make this a special day for both my biological daughter and our ‘new’ son!  I want to make this day about both of them and wanted to see what you all had done.  Love any suggestions smile  Thanks!

Congratulations that is fantastic.  We had our’s on March 26th and even though I tried to keep it together… when they asked us to read his name outloud my voice cracked and couldnt hold back a few tears.

Since our son was not even 3 months old we celebrated with some well deserved donuts and coffee and headed home to enoy every moment of knowing that we were now legally his parents.

How old are your kids?  Maybe they could suggest something that would be special to them that they like.
Congrats again.  Its such a wonderful day.

Although we didn’t have an adoption ceremony, our son’s birthday is celebrated every year with ONLY our son, Mommy, and Daddy.  We usually take him somewhere fun, like a carousal, the zoo, a water park (his birthday is August, it’s easier to do outdoor stuff).  That’s just us—you may want to invite all family members.  But I would suggest you make it geared totally towards your kids ages, not the adults.
Congratulations and have fun!!!  Kids are the best!!!

Yes, my daughter is 5 years old and my son will be turning 5 in June…..we have to be at the courthouse by 8am…so it will be early when we get out….maybe 10am…some family and friends that can make it will be there….and yes kids are the best!

Yay!!!! Congrats! We had a 2 1/2 year wait so we went realllllllly big. About 40 attendees in court with a photographer followed by a luncheon. My mom got us matching necklaces that the 3 of us wore.  If the name change is part of the ceremony you can have your daughter read her brothers new name for the first time. You can also have gifts made for the kids to exchange or matching shirts. Have fun!

So happy for your family. We are eagerly waiting for our adoption date to be announced but the cps in our very small rual county it back logged and our sons caseworker said she really does not know how long we have to wait…. our 6 myths are up in a few weeks and we had hoped it would be shortly afterword but honestly I expect September or October at. This point….never thought we would. Celebrate a gotcha date for a kinship adoption but even his bio parents are wanting to after everything we have been through because of changes of caseworkers….currently only one in our county….talk about the slow down…not mad at the caseworker she is just overworked and since she feels our son is safe and where he should be we often get pushed to the back burner while she deals with cases needing intervention….
