A Step Ahead with Diane Hogan

Hello.  I am brand new to the Adoptive Family Circle.  My hubby and I have decided to adopt.  We are interested in pursuing a newborn domestic adoption.  We are completing our home study (just waiting on paperwork).  We are researching adoption agencies & consultants.  It is so overwhelming!!!  Has anyone heard of or personally worked with Diane Hogan from A Step Ahead?  She is a consultant (not a facilitator) that was recommended by our Home Study agency.

Yes, I have heard of her, but have not worked with any of her clients.  I think consultants are a good avenue to consider, so I would for sure look into her.  Good luck on your adoption journey!  ~Holly

We loved having a consultant and I can’t imagine having gone through this without one.  We didn’t use Diane Hogan though.  We used Gloria Hawk out of Georgia (we’re in Maryland so we did everything by phone).  It was actually through our consultant that we found our first match which failed.  I fully believe it was her relationship with that agency that lead to a full refund for us even though they could have legally kept some of our money.  Gloria also found us our second match.  We were placed with our daughter in May 2011.  Gloria and her staff were so supportive you really felt like your hand was held all the way through.

Talk to the consultant and see if you get a gut feeling and then go with it.

Good luck!

I’m using her right now and she is fantastic.  Her consultants are cheerleaders and advocates…I find the entire group of women really impressive.  I don’t have my baby yet, but I am confident that ASA will support me on the journey…

AllyC,

Are you still working with Diane?  I am considering her services and would love to hear your experience.

We too are looking into this group…anyone else use them?? Would someone PM me with more information about them?

We just got my email of their information.  We were looking into Adoption Network Law Center & through some forums were told to stay away from them from 5 different people and one of them had suggested A Step Ahead & had a successful adoption & only said great things of them.  I have been emailing Diane and she is great & quick at answering all my questions.

I am also wanting honest reviews about them.  So far so good for us.

We used Diane for both of our children’s adoptions. They were excellent and very supportive. They walked us through everything and answered our never ending stream of questions.  By using them we were able to be registered with several agencies at once and quicken the process. They helped us select the agencies that were “a right fit for us”. They made a very long and often confusing process so much easier. Highly recommend her!

What are the fees at A Step Ahead? I can’t find them on their website. Thank you in advance!

$3500 and not worth it.  They are consultants so they get cases that cannot be matched in individual agencies so you will see very expensive cases and lots of drug use.  Save yourself the headache and use an agency.  We had a terrible experience with them and lost $3500 because they wouldn’t work with us.  They are a business and do not care about helping families.

The person who posted on 10/18 is a family who received a refund from A Step Ahead.

I have used A Step Ahead Adoption services for both of our children, Diane is our angel and she and her consultants made the process so much easier. We received cases from all over and we were able to choose the cases that fit us best. They were also very upfront and honest about the fees and there were no hidden or unexpected costs. I would recommend A Step Ahead Adoption again and again!!!!!

I am going to look into A Step Ahead. I have heard good things about them and also about Nicole Witt of the Adoption Consultancy.  I am 49, my husband is 56. We have a bio tween. I hope either consultant will work with us due to our age. We are healthy, active, and have more than enough energy keeping up with our son & his friends!
