Social Media and Adoption
Filed Under:

Within a few short years, social media has changed almost every aspect of adoption. Facebook and other social networking sites, like AdoptiveFamiliesCircle, are now being used by hopeful parents, to connect with prospective birthmothers; families and birth families in open adoptions, to stay in contact; adoptees (and sometimes their parents), to search for birth family—and vice versa; and by adoptive families to share advice and support.

We’d like to hear from families who have made use of social media sites along their adoption journeys—particularly families in which the parents and/or the adopted children have stayed in contact with birth family via Facebook or a similar site. If this describes your family’s experience, what are the pros and cons?
