A Love Letter to My Sweet Boy

"Child of the world, into my heart you came –
Bringing sun into my life, making family our name."
Our dear sweet boy…
To explain our love for you in a simple letter isn't possible, but,
as we did last year, we shall once again try.
Being your mommy and daddy is a blessing, an answered prayer, more than we could have ever asked for.
You are our heart and soul. Sharing each day with you, and our little family, is what life was meant to be. You make each of us better people by sharing our lives with you.
You have
taught us how to love without bounds, and how to live without regret. You have reminded us of the value of a good belly laugh; that you are never too old to be silly, and that hugs should last a little longer.
We love the sweet sound of your laugh, and your endless questions. We love the way your glasses slide down your nose, and the way you reach to hold our hands when you sit beside us. We love your beautiful dark brown eyes, and your contagious smile. We love that you have ripped holes in the knees of every pair of jeans you own, just by being a boy. We love the way you dance every time you hear a note of music, yet you still march to the beat of your own drum. We love that you not only believe in super heroes, but also believe it's entirely possible that your daddy may be one. We love that you believe it when we tell you "mommy kisses can't be rubbed off, because they have super sticky mommy glue." We love that when we ask you how much we love you, you answer "so much." And when we ask you when we love you, you know that we love you all the time. We love the way you hide every night when you hear daddy coming in the house from work; your giggles always give away your hiding spot. We love the way you so proudly show us your daily report from school, especially on the days when you have been extra well behaved. We love that you have specific activities that you enjoy doing with each of us. Daddy is really good at playing super heroes, and, when you and Mommy work on a puzzle, there is no stopping you guys. We love that you love your vegetables! We love the person you are today, and the person we see you becoming. We love that you make us want to be better people, so that, when you are grown, you will look at us and be proud that we are your parents. We love the way you have shaped our life stories. We love that you are ours, and we are yours. We love the way you have painted every aspect of our lives with your own special colors and hues.
Our hope is that we raise you to always show kindness and respect to others, to help those in need, and to always give more than is expected of you. May you always give everything all that you've got; because if it's worth having, it's worth fighting for. May you know that, come what may, we will always and forever be on your team.
This life with you is a beautiful life. This life is love.
Love,
Mommy & Daddy
