Three Cultures, One Home
In our family of four we embody three ethnicities, two nations, and two languages. Here's how we found balance in our everyday lives and our home.

Life as a multilingual, multiracial, multicultural family
In our family of four we embody three ethnicities, two nations, and two languages. Here's how we found balance in our everyday lives and our home.
We've been asked all kinds of questions about why we chose to adopt children of a different race. The truth is, we simply chose to adopt.
I was completely ignorant of all things related to black hair until Isabel came into our lives and, with her, her head of thick, curly, gorgeous locks.
When we couldn't find the right school for the children we are raising to be bilingual, we decided to homeschool.
One question, more than any other asked by strangers, reminds me that our society still considers adoption the second best thing to sharing a blood line. And it makes my heart hurt.
Ignorant comments and absurd assumptions about transracial adoption can sometimes rattle even the most confident adoptive parent. They sure struck me speechless!
A strangers questions our family ties at an ice cream shop.
