What adoption has taught me about fatherhood, family, and myself
I think what I needed most as a young boy was just to have my dad around. Perhaps it is just that simple. So I make a point to spend as much time with my son as possible, and maybe together we'll figure this father-son thing out.
Though I thought there was no way I could ever love my wife more than I always had, that all changed on a January afternoon in Bangalore, India, just over two years ago.
Baby Bear Jackson is a bedtime favorite at our house. His story is a work in progress, with new chapters added nightly as our son, Manu, adopted from India, always wants to hear more about his imaginary friend.
I had never considered that our celebration might have a negative effect on anyone, and I felt guilty for our good fortune.

Two years ago today, I looked into my baby son's eyes for the first time. Through my own tears of joy, I saw innocence in its purest form. I saw in his eyes the promise of a new beginning and an end to the loneliness that we had both felt for too long.
