His Own Story
As an adoptee, I need to keep my own perspective from clouding my ability to see my son's unique adoption experience.

Two generations of adoptive families
As an adoptee, I need to keep my own perspective from clouding my ability to see my son's unique adoption experience.
Because people know that we adopted, they bring that fact up. Will they ever see our son just as our son, and not our "adopted" son?
In honor of this very important month, I talked to several people whose lives have been touched by adoption. Here, in their own words, are their beautiful stories.
I have had people comment on how many photos I take. But taking a child's photo not only helps you remember special moments, it tells the child, You are important.
Though we hope for our son, Max, 2, to have a sibling, this may never happen. As a result, we often worry about Max not having other children close in age in our immediate family or group of friends with whom he will grow up.
Before becoming a parent, I never knew how much I still had to learn.
Yes, my husband and I did experience fertility issues preventing us from having a biological child, but that wasn't why we chose adoption to build our family.
